St Andrew man and teen charged with firearm related offence

The St Andrew North police have charged a man and a 17-year-old boy in connection with an incident that occurred in the Clarks Hill district, St. Andrew, on Monday, March 31.
Thirty-seven-year-old mason Jerome Dixon and the teen—both residents of Clarks Hill—were charged following investigations.
Dixon was charged with breaches of the Firearms Act and Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm, while the 17-year-old was charged with Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm.
Reports from the Stony Hill Police indicate that around 7:00 p.m., Dixon and his accomplice confronted a man, accusing him of harbouring a stranger in the community. During the confrontation, Dixon allegedly drew a firearm from his waistband and struck the man in the chest. The teen reportedly used a machete to hit the man multiple times. The victim eventually managed to escape.
Following a report to the police, both Dixon and the boy turned themselves in on Saturday, April 5. They were later formally charged.
Dixon is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, April 16, while the teen is set to appear on Monday, May 5.
