Asection of the roadway leading to and from Wait-a-Bit in Trelawny was extensively blocked on Thursday as residents protested the fatal police shooting of a local man.

Large trees were used to block the road, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.

Reports are that on Friday vehicular traffic flow resumed, but in some cases with only single-lane passage.

Residents identified the deceased as Fabian Carter, a resident of Wait-a-Bit.

According to reports, police personnel were conducting an operation in the area early on Thursday morning, during which they entered a house, where Carter was subsequently shot.

He was transported to the Percy Junor Hospital in Spaldings on the Manchester side of the town, where he was pronounced dead.

The protesting residents contended that Carter was not a troublemaker.

The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) is probing the shooting

The authorities have urged calm as investigations continue into the incident.
